  2. Directions for scanning Macintosh volumes for the TIES escape sequence.

  4.     1.    Quit any applications that may be running on the Macintosh that you wish to scan.
  5.  
  6.     2.    Insert the "TIES Search" diskette and startup the "TIES Search" application.  You
  7.              do not need to copy the "TIES Search" to the disk you want to search.

  9.     3.    Select the "Search" menu to display a list of all disk volumes that were mounted
  10.        when the "TIES Search" application was started.
  11.  
  12.   4.    Select either an individual or the all drives option to begin a scan.
  13.  
  14.     5.    Once a selection is made the scan process will start.  You will not be able to cancel 
  15.              a scan while it is in progress.  Most scans will take less than 10 minutes.   An old
  16.              MacPlus with a 80 megabyte hard disk takes about 30 minutes.

  18.     6.  Results of the scan are displayed during the scan process.    The program will notify
  19.              you when the scan has completed.
  20.  
  21.     7.  At the end of the scan you may save the results by selecting the "Save" option that is
  22.              located under the 'File' menu.  The program will automatically save the results when
  23.              you quit the program if you have not saved them before that time.

  25.     8.  The results file is a plain text file that may be read with any text editor program.
